Election Notice

Friday, September 15, 2023 at 5:01 p.m. – Notice is hereby given of the closing of the Voting Period to elect the candidates who will form part of the Pension Benefits Council for a four-year term.

The next step in the election process is the tabulation of the votes cast, to be conducted by Kroll, LLC, the election administrator.

In accordance with Article 6.6, “Notice of Election Results,” of the Regulations, once the vote tabulation is completed, Kroll, LLC will announce the certified results through simultaneous notifications as follows:

1. By postal mail to all participating candidates
2. On the Pension Benefits Council website: consejodebeneficios.org
3. By press release

Such notification will include the number of votes received by each candidate and the candidates elected in each voter group: Employees Retirement System (SRE), Teachers Retirement System (SRM), Judiciary Retirement System (SRJ), and Active Employees. 

Election Notice

The Pension Benefits Council of the Pension Reserve Trust (Benefits Council) hereby announces the commencement of the voting process to elect five retirees (two from the Central Government Retirement System, two from the Teachers’ Retirement System (SRM), and one from the Judiciary Retirement System (SRJ)), and one active employee, who will serve on the Benefits Council for a four-year term beginning in January 2024. Ballot packages will be mailed on August 18, 2023, to eligible voters on record with the Retirement Systems Administration June 30, 2023 or retirees, and May 30, 2023 for active employees. The deadline to vote is September 15 at 5:00 p.m. (Atlantic Time).

Among other responsibilities, the elected candidates will ensure that the Government of Puerto Rico makes the required contributions to the Pension Reserve and will approve requests to withdraw funds to support the payment of pensions. To complete the ballot, voters will need the “Ballot ID” number, which appears at the top of each ballot, and the last four digits of their Social Security number. There will be three ways to submit ballots: by mail, through Kroll, Inc.’s electronic platform, and in person at one of the six ballot drop-off centers.
