Friday, September 15, 2023 at 5:01 p.m. – Notice is hereby given of the closing of the Voting Period to elect the candidates who will form part of the Pension Benefits Council for a four-year term.
The next step in the election process is the tabulation of the votes cast, to be conducted by Kroll, LLC, the election administrator.
In accordance with Article 6.6, “Notice of Election Results,” of the Regulations, once the vote tabulation is completed, Kroll, LLC will announce the certified results through simultaneous notifications as follows:
1. By postal mail to all participating candidates
2. On the Pension Benefits Council website: consejodebeneficios.org
3. By press release
Such notification will include the number of votes received by each candidate and the candidates elected in each voter group: Employees Retirement System (SRE), Teachers Retirement System (SRM), Judiciary Retirement System (SRJ), and Active Employees.
The Pension Benefits Council during the transition period has the duty to conduct an election among eligible Retirees and Active Employees to select the six members who, together with the appointments made by the Governor of Puerto Rico, the Oversight Board, and AFSCME/United Public Servants, will constitute the Pension Benefits Council for a four-year term beginning on January 1, 2024.
When will the Election Period take place?
The Election Period began on August 18, 2023, with the mailing of ballots. These were sent from New York and may therefore take a few days to arrive. The deadline to vote is September 15 at 5:00 p.m. (Atlantic Time).
What Will the Ballots Look Like?
There will be 4 different ballots:
- Central Government Employees Retirement System
- Teachers Retirement System
- Judiciary Retirement System
- Active Employees
Each Eligible Voter will receive the ballot corresponding to their voting group. At the end of this page, a sample ballot for each group is provided.
To complete the ballot, voters will need the “Ballot-ID” number that appears at the top of each ballot, as well as the last four digits of their Social Security number.
The Election Administrator, Kroll, Inc., will mail ballots to eligible voters on record with the Retirement Systems Administration by mail June 30, 2023 or retirees, and May 30, 2023 for active employees.
*El Consejo de Beneficios de Pensiones y Kroll, Inc., como administrador de la elección, no tienen control sobre la calidad de la información y la corrección de las direcciones postales de los Pensionados y Empleados Activos que aparecen en las listas provistas por la Administración de los Sistemas de Retiro de Puerto Rico.
¿Por quiénes votarán los Pensionados y Empleados Activos Elegibles?
- Los pensionados del Sistema de Retiro Central podrán votar por 2 candidatos.
- Los pensionados del Teachers Retirement System podrán votar por 2 candidatos.
- Los pensionados del Judiciary Retirement System podrán votar por 1 candidato.
- The empleados activos podrán votar por 1 candidato.
¿Cuáles son las formas de votar?
Los electores elegibles podrán escoger 1 de 3 formas disponibles para votar:
- A través del portal electrónico de Kroll, Inc.: https://cases.ra.kroll.com/EleccionesCBP/EBallot-Home
- Por correo postal usando el sobre pre dirigido que recibirá con la papeleta. Para que el voto sea válido el sobre tendrá que tener el matasellos del 15 de septiembre de 2023 y llegar a Kroll, Inc. en o antes del 22 de septiembre de 2023.
- Entregando la papeleta votada en uno de los Centros de Acopio ubicados alrededor de toda la isla, que abren el lunes, 28 de agosto.
¿Dónde estarán los centros de entrega de papeletas?
Los Centros de Acopio abren el lunes, 28 de agosto, de lunes a sábado en el horario de 8:30 a.m. a 5:00 p.m.
